The Recognition Problem Veterans Are Facing
Many Veterans, especially those who served during heightened peace time campaigns as "Defense" soldiers, in hot spots like Korea, very frequently encounter merchandise displaying incorrect military ribbons and designs. I myself recently ordered a cap with my KDSM award, and was sent a Vietnam War Veteran ribbon. I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT wear that cap, even in my home as it would be an insult to the brave soldiers that served in that brutal campaign.
During research there seems to be some common issues that ALL veterans and some active duty soldiers as well. Some of those “Common issues” include: Incorrect ribbon color order, or the wrong ribbon altogether, Decorative ribbon graphics instead of regulation ribbon bar, Non military style emblems and other graphics.
