Where were you on June 25, 2013? That is the exact date of this incident. Let's be absolutely clear about that infamous day. Barack Obama was recently elected to his second term as President of the United States. For all intents and purposes he was the first Black President, so let's call him the Sheriff. As a matter of fact he was the first Black President to ever be elected by the people of a now united Union and Confederate governing body. In both of his elections records were set in black voter turn out. Black voter turnout surpassed White voter turn out both times. Black voters overall voted at 66.2% of their base, while White voters maintained their typical 64.1% voter turnout.

This significant uptick in Black voter turnout sent shockwaves through the entire political spectrum. For the first time since the Civil Rights Movement that Black people felt like there was hope in the political process. The first time that Black Americans felt that they stood a chance of gaining in ground in regards to equality and respect. Of getting some of the things that were deserved.

The now former President Obama was well liked by the majority of Americans including a large section of White America. He and his family were all upstanding Americans, well educated, decent people, and the Obama's did not have a scandalous past looming over looming over their heads.

As you can imagine however, there were also a lot of people who were uncomfortable with this new Black Political Power presence in Washington DC. This presence gave space for Black possibility, ambition, and Black momentum.

America was soon to prove its hardline stance however, that Black momentum was still an existential threat to the core principle of White dominance. You see, while the Obama's lived up to their duties almost flawlessly, conversations were being had secretly in policy rooms filled with state legislators, in conservative think tanks, federal courts, and by political donors and in homes around the country. White Nationalist America felt strongly that something had to be done to stop this change. Knowing that another Martin Luther King scenario would rip the nation apart, That they could not shoot the Sheriff, so a decision was made to shoot the deputy.

Who was this deputy that got shot? Who was to blame for the Obama Presidency? Someone figured that this was not about the then President Obama, The new Sheriff, It was about what he represented, so that made him safe. It was known that he could not run for a third term, and that made him safe.

But Barack Obama being the Leader of the free world for eight consecutive years created a looming question in the minds of White Nationalist America: Could anyone else other than a White man, possibly even a woman, White or Black, run for Commander and Chief of the most powerful nation in the world, and win?

That conclusion to that question was almost unthinkable to a conservative power structure that had run this nation since the 1700's. They knew something had to be done, right away.

So again who is this infamous deputy now square in the crosshairs of the long barrel gun of White Nationalism in America? Joe Biden, the Vice President, was safe even a a Democrat. He could be managed by PAC monies. Conservatives dug deep and found the Deputy.

Remember our date from above, June 25, 2013? That was the date the deputy was shot, and that deputy was The Voting Rights Act. Established in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson it triggered a significant change in the relationship between the state and federal government. In short states no longer had the power to choose its own voting requirements and rules. The Voting Rights Act outlawed a lot of state held voting rules such as literacy test, which were very unfair to Black Americans due to the Educational Disparities in the country.

So they shot the Deputy of Equal Opportunity in government. They handed the shotgun to the Supreme Court of the United States, who shot the Voting Rights act in 2013 in the gut ripping it apart.

White Nationalist America, both Dems and GOP's knew that they desperately needed to make sure that voter suppression, or voter protection laws, (The lie they told the American people), would stop black people from turning out at 66.2% of their base ever again.

Now of course the previous statement never came from them, but anyone can see, who and what these voter laws affect and how. This was absolutely the very beginning of EVERYTHING you see happening in government policy today. This is what allowed Donald Trump to rise to power as the face of White Nationalism in America. This is why you now see voter purges by state, voting precinct closings, voter ID laws, district gerrymandering, and attacks on mail in ballots. This is also the start of Project 2025' DEI, and Affirmative Action implementations.

So as you can see, President Obama's presidency scared the heck out of white conservatives, Not just because of who he was, but also what he represented for this country. A future not controlled by whiteness.

A decision was made to change the narrative his presidency was writing, and the way they did it was by giving the power over elections back to the states where some of the most racist, and unfair voting practices were carried out.

All of this brings us to 2025 where governmental policy rollbacks have taken America back to the 60's as far as voting and equality are concerned. That's why The Justice Journal Blog™ maintains: "They didn't shoot the Sheriff, they shot the deputy".
